Podium Audio’s AudioCollab - connecting voices

Podium has long been a champion of independent authors and voice artists alike, with a mission to change the lives of trendsetting storytellers by discovering, developing, and amplifying their work. It is from this mission that Podium’s AudioCollab initiative was born. AudioCollab is a partnership with some of the most sought-after audiobook voice actors in the industry today. This partnership aims to support and elevate the impact of the top performers in the audiobook industry by offering them multi-year, guaranteed individual contracts and resources to develop their social media footprint and fan following. Originally launching with ten narrators, Podium added five more voices to the partnership this year.

From its founding, Podium understood that audiobooks are not a secondary format to traditional print: the primacy of spoken-word storytelling makes it a unique art form—a performer gives texture and depth to the narrative in a way that flat text simply cannot. Recognizing the influence performers bring to the audiobook market, Podium has worked with AudioCollabers to execute marketing strategies that build both the narrator’s and author’s audiences.

“With so many narrators doing such fantastic work in the audiobook world, it can be tricky to stand out on your own. I appreciate Podium's goal of highlighting up-and-coming narrators and turning their work into ‘prestige projects’ through their marketing efforts. I've also enjoyed participating in forums with my fellow collaborators, talking shop and getting a sense of the view from outside my own booth, as it were,” stated AudioCollaber and AudioFile Earphones Award winner Eric Michael Summerer.

AudioCollaber Tess Irondale has had a similar experience, stating “I believe that Podium's AudioCollab is a revolution in the audiobook industry and it has been a tremendous honor to be a member of the inaugural group of narrators. By making a contractual multi-year commitment to its performers, Podium not only validates the integrity of the work we do, but practices a level of care for our professional and personal well-being. In a decade in the booth, I've never encountered a more artist-focused stance.”

Podium looks forward to continuing to add to the AudioCollab initiative, helping voice artists achieve their career goals and maximize their valuable time and talents most efficiently and effectively.
