Attention Audiobook Retailers

APA has a wealth of information available to help you market audiobooks and increase your company's audiobook sales. September 2006 marked the launch of the APA Audiobox program. By collating, packing, and shipping publishers’ top releases from a centralized fulfillment house (run by Audio Editions), APA is able to offer our members direct delivery to over two hundred store managers across the country at a substantial savings of time, labor, and cost. The goal of this important initiative is to encourage sales staff to become more familiar with audiobooks and to ultimately become more educated listeners when they recommend titles to their customers.

Attention Audiobook Publishers
THE FACTS

• Every quarter, an APA AudioBox filled with participating member-publishers’ titles will be sent as “staff listening samples” to major and independent retailers who have shown an interest in audiobooks—including Barnes & Noble and Borders as well as top independent stores such as Politics & Prose in Washington, D.C.  A majority of the participating stores have been selected by the retailers themselves as their top audio sellers in the country.
  
  
• The AudioBox will ship direct to those stores, plus one sample to all publishers participating in the program that quarter.  Publishers will need to ship 220 units of each title to the APA fulfillment house.
  
  
• A maximum of two (3) titles per publisher are allowed with each quarterly shipment.
  
  
• An introductory letter from the APA to participating retailers will be included in the AudioBox; however, no marketing materials will be included (flyers, catalogs, etc).  CD, cassette, and MP3-CD formats only.

THE COST

• $350.00 per title

THE DEADLINES

• Deadlines vary with each Audiobox
• There will be an AudioBox in March, June and November of 2008

MARCH DEADLINES:
March 12 - Deadline to submit request for participation
March 14 - APA will send approval of request no later than this date
March 28 - Deadline for product to arrive at fulfilment house

• A single product should not exceed*:

Weight: 2 pounds

Height: 8 inches

Depth: 3 inches

*Note that APA must charge an additional amount for product that exceeds the measurements above, to cover additional shipping costs.
